This course is a detailed study of the interaction between bitcoin, our financial system, and AI’s accelerating impact on the digital economy. The course begins with monetary history and an overview of today’s dollar-based financial system, then introduces bitcoin’s origins and technical components, including public-key cryptography and mining. AI and its tremendously rapid introduction into the global economy is discussed, as well as the industries it will disrupt for years to come and its intersection with digital assets, including bitcoin, stablecoins, and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
