Students attending USC Summer Programs 2026 may choose between two new course options: “Sketch to Prototype: An Introduction to Designing and Developing Products” from USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy and “Know Your Customer, Spot the Trend, Tell the Story” from USC Marshall School of Business.

Rapidly evolving fields like product design and marketing are uncharted territory for many high schoolers. USC faculty designed these dynamic courses to fill this gap, providing a hands-on look at two real-world career paths.

“USC Summer Programs gives high school students the chance to ‘try out’ college-level learning before committing to a major, creating the perfect opportunity to explore fields that they may not otherwise have access to,” said Jeymi Choi, director of academics and operations for USC Pre-College Programs.

“Sketch to Prototype,” created by faculty at one of USC’s newest schools, teaches students how to transform their ideas into functional product prototypes. Participants will explore 3D modeling, AI visualization, branding and more in the USC Iovine and Young Academy’s creator studio, giving them access to state-of-the-art tools to bring their ideas to life.

In “Know Your Customer, Spot the Trend, Tell the Story,” faculty from the renowned USC Marshall School of Business will guide students in discovering how successful companies understand their customers and employ business analytics, audience segmentation and storytelling to communicate with them.
